    The Drumochter Hills (West)

At the sunrise I started scaling the north-east ridge of Geal Charn – or I thought so. I realised my mistake too high and too late – I’d been climbing Creagan Mor, the northern neighbouring hill. Between me and Geal Charn was a very steep and narrow gorge of Allt Beul an Sporran; returning to the bottom of the hill…

A’ Bhuidheanach Bheag & Carn na Caim

Featureless hills and spells of bad weather; not much more can be said about this route. However, I climbed two Munros and fortunately I will not have to return there. What to do with several hours on a sunny day? Climbing a Munro was my answer. This one is perfect for a longer walk; it’s not particularly demanding, it’s easily accessible from the A9, return climbing took exactly 4 hours. Supposedly there’s a great view of southern Cairngorms  from the top; the haze obscured the views completely. Beinn a’Ghlo

The weather was surprisingly good, however the wind up the hills was strong and very cold. The hike was quite exhausting, as it started with quite a steep climb, with a deep descend from Carn Liath, then a long and tiring climb to the top of Braigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain, a very steep descend from Carn nan Gabhar, and finally a long return mostly…

    Conival & Ben More Assynt

Quite unexpectedly I managed to go to the Far North on Friday. It was pretty risky affair, as I left the car park at 1:30pm, unusually late for me. Generally the hike was not complicated or particularly difficult till I reached the ridge leading directly to the summit of Conival – the wind was strong; it became dangerous on the…
