I planned to do this route for several weeks. Problematic weather kept me away till the end of August. Finally, I managed to pass almost all the planned routes on 1 September 2010. 1: Starting and finishing point at the car park called Sugar Bowl. From that place, I went along a comfortably wide dirt track to reach Chalamain Gap. 2: Chalamain Gap. Not long, but pretty difficult; in bad weather, even dangerous. The path disappears among the rocks covering the bottom. 3: The northern end of Lairig Ghru. The beginning of my “great circle” around the sources of the River Dee. 4: The summit of Braeriach (1296m). I had to make the decision to continue the route I’d planned or to go back. Finally, I decided to continue. 5: The summit of The Angel’s Peak (1258m). 6: The summit of Cairn Toul (1291m). The descent was exhausting: constantly down along the pretty steep slope. 7: Gap between Cairn Toul and The Devil’s Point. Previously, I’d planned to climb The Devil’s Point during that hike, but changing weather and late time of the day made me to abandon the idea and to go down to Lairig Ghru. The descent was unexpectedly longer and tougher than I’d thought. 8: Lairig Ghru. The plan was to cover the valley quite quickly. I was making good progress for the first 2\/3 of the path, but the last 1\/3 was hopelessly slow; the path was winding, covered with rocks or mud, disappearing among rockfalls.
